About ECA

The Technology, Innovation, Connectivity, and Infrastructure Development Division (TICID) plays a key role in supporting member States to achieve growth through business environment reforms, private sector investment, and innovative financing.
Internship Opportunity: Economic Affairs Intern
This internship offers a unique opportunity to support ECA’s diversity, equity, and inclusion agenda, particularly in outreach strategies and inclusive recruitment practices. Interns will also gain exposure to ECA’s work in economic development, policy design, and cross-border cooperation.
Qualifications & Special Skills
To qualify for the UN Internship Programme, applicants must meet one of the following requirements:
- Be enrolled in, or have completed, high school and hold a diploma.
- Be enrolled in the final academic year of a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
- Be enrolled in, or have completed, a Master’s or Ph.D. program.
Additional requirements:
- No prior work experience is required.
- Academic training, advanced coursework, or skills should be relevant to the UN’s mission.
- Proof of enrollment or graduation must be attached to the application (official certificate required later).
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to ECA’s inclusive recruitment strategies.
- Support outreach efforts targeting underrepresented groups.
- Assist in policy-related research and data analysis.
- Provide support to TICID programs in areas such as private sector development, financing, and infrastructure.
Important Information for Interns
- Internships are not financially remunerated. All travel, visa, accommodation, and living costs must be covered by interns or their sponsoring institutions.
- Non-citizens or residents of Ethiopia may be required to obtain a visa and work authorization.
- The UN does not charge any fee at any stage of recruitment and does not request bank account details.
