About DCO-Africa
United Nations Development Coordination Office Regional Office for Africa (DCO-Africa), established in July 2019 in Addis Ababa, supports 53 Resident Coordinators and UN Country Teams across the continent.
The office plays a key role in implementing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and the African Union Agenda 2063, strengthening coordination and impact across UN operations in Africa.
Position: Regional Youth Engagement Intern
The DCO-Africa is seeking a motivated intern to support youth engagement initiatives, research, and coordination efforts across African countries. This is a high-impact opportunity to work closely with UN teams and contribute to youth-focused development programs.
Qualifications & Requirements
Applicants must meet one of the following:
- Be enrolled in a graduate program (Master’s/PhD or equivalent)
- Be in the final year of a Bachelor’s degree
- Have completed a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD

- Public Policy
- Social Sciences
- Communications
- Related disciplines
Key Responsibilities
1. Programme Analysis on Youth Engagement
- Analyze youth engagement across Africa using UN Cooperation Frameworks
- Identify how youth priorities are reflected in national development strategies
- Research innovation and digital solutions for youth participation
- Document best practices from UN Country Teams
2. Events and Campaigns
- Support organization of regional youth engagement events
- Coordinate with Resident Coordinators and UN Country Teams
- Prepare concept notes, campaign materials, and reports
- Engage youth networks and stakeholders
3. Knowledge Products & Media Monitoring
- Develop briefs, summaries, and key messages
- Support contributions to DCO Policy Bulletin
- Monitor and compile daily news on Africa and SDGs
4. Additional Support
- Assist in webinars, meetings, and reporting
- Take meeting notes and provide administrative support
