About Solidarités International
Solidarités International (SI) is a humanitarian NGO dedicated to providing aid to populations affected by conflict, epidemics, natural disasters, and economic crises. With operations launched in Ethiopia in December 2022, SI focuses on emergency response through community-centered WASH, shelter, and food security programs.
We are currently opening a new base in Motta and seeking two experienced WATSAN Officers to lead, implement, and supervise technical water and sanitation projects under the guidance of the WATSAN Infrastructure Team Leader and Deputy Program Coordinator – WASH.
Position: WATSAN Officer
Key Qualifications
- Education: Higher education certificate or degree in Civil Engineering, Electro-Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Hydraulic Engineering, Water & Sanitation, or related field
- Experience:
- Minimum 1 year of professional experience in a technical role
- Prior WASH or humanitarian experience is a strong advantage
- Languages:
- Fluency in Amharic (mandatory)
- English proficiency (preferred)
Core Responsibilities
1. Project Implementation & Monitoring
- Participate in the planning, preparation, and execution of water and sanitation infrastructure projects
- Supervise construction and maintenance using SI technical guidelines
- Lead community participation and contractor engagement on job sites
- Monitor proper use of resources and safety on all field activities
- Identify risks and propose solutions for ongoing activities
- Ensure compliance with SI logistics, procurement, and documentation standards
2. Reporting & Documentation
- Maintain project documentation and monitoring files
- Contribute to project progress reports
- Provide timely feedback to supervisors on activities, community concerns, and field-level challenges
3. Coordination & Communication
- Collaborate with local authorities, community leaders, and SI teams
- Attend relevant cluster meetings and represent SI as required
- Communicate beneficiary feedback and safety-related issues to management
- Apply “Do No Harm” principles and ensure protection-sensitive practices
