About the Rhodes Scholarships

The Rhodes Scholarships, first awarded in 1902, are one of the world’s oldest and most prestigious international scholarship programs. Each year, exceptional young leaders from around the world are selected to pursue postgraduate studies at the University of Oxford.

The scholarship aims to support outstanding students academically, professionally, and personally, fostering lifelong learning, leadership, and global fellowship. Scholars are encouraged to pursue any academic field offered at Oxford University, including social sciences, engineering, arts, medical sciences, law, and public policy.

Financial Benefits

The Rhodes Scholarship is fully funded and includes:

  • All University and College fees
  • University application fee
  • Living stipend: £19,800 per year (~£1,650/month)
  • One economy-class flight to Oxford at the start of the scholarship, and one return flight at the conclusion of the scholarship
  • Potential extension for a third year if pursuing a DPhil program

Eligibility Criteria

  • Applicants must belong to eligible countries (or apply as Global Scholars if their country is not listed)
  • Age Requirements:
    • 18–24 years old by 1 October 2025, OR
    • Up to 27 years old for candidates who completed their first undergraduate degree later than usual
  • Applicants must complete or be expected to complete their undergraduate degree by June/July 2026 with outstanding academic performance (minimum GPA 3.70/4.0 or equivalent)
  • Must meet the English language proficiency requirements for Oxford University
  • Demonstrated leadership, commitment to public service, and strong personal character
