The company supports ATM, POS, e-commerce, Mobile Banking, and other digital payment channels, and provides clearing and settlement services for debit and credit card transactions. PSS plays a critical role in strengthening Ethiopia’s national payment ecosystem.
PSS invites qualified and experienced professionals to apply for the following position
Position: Principal Payment Application Officer
The Principal Payment Application Officer is responsible for leading, maintaining, and enhancing payment applications and systems while ensuring high availability, security compliance, and operational excellence.
Qualification & Work Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in:
- ICT
- Computer Science
- Information Systems
- Or other related fields
- Minimum of 7 years relevant experience
- At least 2 years in a senior officer role
- Proven experience in:
- P2P / IPS systems
- Payment switch
- Payment gateway
- Core banking systems
- Financial sector payment applications
Key Responsibilities
- Implement the strategic direction of payment applications
- Develop, implement, and continuously review policies, procedures, and process documents
- Design, set up, install, integrate, and maintain payment systems and related technologies
- Ensure compliance with PCI DSS and other relevant security standards
- Build and maintain high availability and optimal system performance
- Manage Instant Payment Systems (IPS) and P2P platforms
- Provide comprehensive application support services
- Coordinate with vendors to resolve system issues and implement fixes
- Participate in payment application and related IT projects
- Manage user access, privileges, and monitoring
- Conduct periodic system performance assessments
- Validate business intelligence and system reports
- Implement system capacity planning and business continuity strategies
- Lead system maintenance, upgrades, and migrations
- Research emerging payment technologies and support new product development
- Ensure proper backup, restoration, archiving, and data retention procedures
- Train, coach, and mentor team members for career development
- Perform and validate end-of-day system tasks
- Investigate system logs and trace files
- Manage applications, transactions, interfaces, and gateways
- Respond to system incidents, interruptions, and performance degradation
- Prepare periodic operational and performance reports
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor
