About PAPDA
Partnership for Pastoralists Development Association (PAPDA) is a legally registered humanitarian national NGO dedicated to improving the livelihoods of pastoralist and agro-pastoralist communities in Ethiopia. Established in June 2006, PAPDA operates across Oromia, Somali, and Afar regional states, providing development support in line with local needs and priorities.
Internship Overview
PAPDA is seeking motivated and qualified interns to join its operational departments. This internship provides hands-on professional experience while supporting HR, Procurement, Logistics, Program Support, and IT functions. Interns will gain valuable exposure to NGO operations and development program management.
Positions and Responsibilities
1. Human Resources (HR) Intern
- Support recruitment, shortlisting, and interview coordination
- Maintain personnel files and HR databases
- Assist onboarding and orientation of new staff and interns
- Support HR documentation and reporting in compliance with policies
2. Procurement Intern
- Assist in preparing procurement documents, RFQs, and bid analysis
- Maintain vendor communication and procurement records
- Ensure compliance with PAPDA and donor procurement regulations
- Track and file procurement documentation
3. Logistics Intern
- Support inventory and asset management
- Coordinate transportation, distribution, and dispatch documentation
- Organize warehouse and stock control processes
- Assist in preparing logistics and asset reports
Note: Logistics interns must have a valid driving license and at least 1 year of driving experience.
4. Program Support Intern
- Assist program teams in planning, coordination, and documentation
- Support data collection and reporting
- Help organize trainings, workshops, meetings, and field activities
- Facilitate coordination between program and operations teams
5. Information Technology (IT) Intern
- Provide basic IT support and troubleshoot hardware/software issues
- Maintain IT equipment inventory and documentation
- Assist with system updates, data backup, and user support
- Ensure compliance with PAPDA IT and data protection policies
Qualifications & Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Project Management, Logistics & Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Computer Science, Human Resource Management, or related field; Master’s degree is an asset
- Experience: 0–1 year of relevant work or internship experience
- Skills & Competencies:
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Excellent written and verbal communication in English
- Strong analytical, organizational, and time management skills
- Ability to work effectively in multicultural, team-oriented environments
- High level of integrity and confidentiality
