Marie Stopes International Ethiopia (MSIE) invites qualified applicants for the position of Inpatient Head-Level II at the MCH Specialty Centre in Adama. The role focuses on leading inpatient services and ensuring the effective delivery of clinical maternal and child health (MCH) services.
Job Description
Job Summary:
Reporting to the MCH Specialty Centre Manager, the Inpatient Head-Level II plans, organizes, directs, and coordinates inpatient activities, ensuring efficient clinical service delivery and adequate supply management.
Key Duties/Tasks
Strategy & Planning
- Participate in MCH Specialty Centre management team meetings
- Facilitate quarterly performance reviews and annual business planning
- Contribute to MCH service target setting and implementation
- Prepare and submit work plan and budget for inpatient services
Team Leadership
- Provide leadership and direction to inpatient staff to meet organizational objectives
- Coordinate the inpatient unit (delivery, OR, Bed service, 2nd trimester)
- Deploy, supervise, and motivate staff according to MSIE policies
- Establish effective communication systems within the unit and center
- Conduct performance appraisals and arrange regular staff training
- Monitor technical skills and quality of care provided by staff
MCH Services
- Ensure efficient client care and confidentiality according to medical standards
- Perform nursing duties and provide MCH services
- Facilitate subsidized/free services for eligible clients
- Maintain proper medical records and client cards
- Submit quantitative and qualitative reports regularly
- Report clinical incidents promptly according to MSIE guidelines
- Collaborate on evaluation of clinical programs and research findings
Resource Management
- Oversee medical supply acquisition, storage, issuance, and replenishment
- Assist in reviewing service charges
- Perform administrative duties for day-to-day center operations
- Implement improved MCH service management systems
- Undertake any other relevant duties as assigned by the MCH Centre Manager
Job Requirements
Education:
- BSc in Midwifery or Nursing
Experience:
- Minimum of 4 years hands-on experience in reproductive or maternal health services
Skills, Attitudes & Attributes:
- Strong understanding of government and regional health policies
- Excellent customer service orientation
- Independent judgment and initiative
- Facilitation, presentation, team-building, and coordination skills
- Commitment to MSIE goals
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Good time management
