Position: Legal Officer
Are you an experienced legal professional looking to advance your career in a dynamic and technology-driven banking environment? BoA is seeking a qualified Legal Officer to join its Adama District operations and ensure legal compliance, policy adherence, and advisory excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide legal advisory services to district-level departments and branches
- Draft and review contracts, internal memos, and official communications
- Handle litigation, customer complaints, and disputes involving the bank
- Ensure compliance with national laws, NBE directives, and internal policies
- Collaborate with regulatory bodies, courts, and legal institutions
- Support legal audits, internal investigations, and risk mitigation procedures
Required Qualifications
- Education: LLB or LLM in Law from a recognized university
- Experience:
- LLB holders: Minimum 6 years of relevant banking/legal experience
- LLM holders: Minimum 4 years of relevant experience
- Of which, at least 3 years must be in the legal department of a financial institution
Preferred Attributes
- Strong knowledge of banking law, civil procedures, and financial regulations
- Excellent legal writing, interpretation, and case management skills
- Familiarity with Ethiopian court systems and corporate legal environments
- High integrity, confidentiality, and ability to work under pressure
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement capabilities
