Islamic Relief Ethiopia began operations in 2004 and currently operates across Somali, Afar, and Oromia regional states with additional support offices in Addis Ababa. The organization remains committed to humanitarian principles and effective development solutions.
POSITION SUMMARY
Islamic Relief Ethiopia is seeking a qualified and dependable Cashier to support financial operations at its Jigjiga field office. The ideal candidate will manage day-to-day cash transactions, ensure financial compliance, and contribute to the effective running of field-based financial systems.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage daily cash transactions and maintain cashbooks
- Handle petty cash disbursements and reconciliations
- Prepare and submit timely cash reports
- Ensure accurate record-keeping and proper documentation of financial activities
- Comply with internal financial policies and donor requirements
- Assist in audits and maintain confidentiality in financial dealings
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Accounting or related field
- Minimum 2 years (Bachelor’s) or 3 years (Diploma) of relevant experience, preferably in NGO finance roles
- Strong understanding of financial systems and cash handling procedures
- Familiarity with AX Dynamics ERP system is an added advantage
- Proficiency in MS Office (especially Excel)
- Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills
- Fluency in English and Somali language is mandatory
