The International Rescue Committee (IRC), one of the world’s largest humanitarian NGOs operating in over 30 countries, has been working in Ethiopia since 2000. IRC delivers emergency and development programs in health, water and sanitation, economic recovery and development (ERD), women’s protection and empowerment, education, child protection, and multi-sector emergency response.
IRC Ethiopia is now inviting applications for the following internship positions:
1. MEAL Intern
About the Role
The MEAL Intern will support Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning activities, particularly client feedback systems, data management, and verification processes.
Required Qualification
BA/BSc Degree in:
- Monitoring & Evaluation
- Statistics
- Data Management
- Social Sciences
- Related fields
Additional Requirements:
- Strong English proficiency (spoken & written)
- Local language skills are an advantage
Major Responsibilities
- Assist in client feedback data collection
- Support verification processes
- Maintain and update client databases
- Perform other MEAL-related tasks as assigned
Learning Opportunities
- Hands-on experience with MEAL frameworks
- Exposure to accountability systems
- Practical experience in structured humanitarian programs
2. Supply Chain Intern
About the Role
The Supply Chain Intern will assist in procurement, warehousing, fleet, and asset management activities.
Required Qualification
BA/BSc Degree in:
- Supply Chain Management
- Logistics
- Procurement
- Business Administration
- Related fields
Additional Requirements:
- Strong English proficiency
- Local language skills are an advantage
Major Responsibilities
- Prepare RFQs
- Support bid analysis
- Assist in issuing Purchase Orders
- Conduct market assessments
- Verify supplier documents
- Maintain procurement documentation
Learning Opportunities
- Exposure to full procurement cycle
- Understanding humanitarian supply chain systems
- Practical documentation and compliance skills
3. ERD Interns (Kersa & Fedis Woredas)
About the Role
ERD Interns will support implementation of the HDP Nexus program, focusing on agronomy practices and climate-smart agriculture interventions.
Required Qualification
BA/BSc Degree in:
- Agronomy
- Agriculture
- Natural Resource Management
- Related agricultural disciplines
Additional Requirements:
- Strong English proficiency
- Local language skills are an advantage
Key Responsibilities
- Support land preparation and demo site follow-up
- Provide technical assistance to farmers
- Assist in climate-smart agriculture activities
- Support stakeholder coordination
Learning Opportunities
- Climate-Smart Agriculture (CSA)
- Nutrition-Sensitive Agriculture (NSA)
- VSLA methodology
- Community engagement and project implementation skills
