The GIZ African Union Office, headquartered in Addis Ababa, supports GIZ programs implemented in partnership with the African Union, providing services in procurement, financial management, HR, communications, internal operations, and portfolio management.
GIZ is now inviting applications from recent graduates for the following position:
Position: Intern
Qualification Requirements
- Graduates who completed their studies within the last six months
- Degree in International Relations, Political Science, Communications, African Studies, or related field
- Knowledge or strong interest in AU policies or international development is an advantage
- Applicants must have the legal right to reside and work in Ethiopia (GIZ does not facilitate work permits)
Required Skills & Competencies
- Strong English proficiency (written and spoken)
- Knowledge of other AU working languages is an advantage
- Ability to conduct online research, analyze data, and synthesize complex information
- Excellent writing and editing skills
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Proactive, resourceful, and eager to learn
- Ability to work both independently and in a team
Additional Advantage:
- Basic graphic design skills
- Familiarity with Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in drafting, editing, and designing social media posts, newsletters, and communication materials
- Maintain and organize contact lists, portfolio data, and communication files
- Prepare concise and visually engaging briefs, presentations, and reports on AU-related topics
- Provide logistical and conceptual support for workshops and events
- Offer occasional administrative support to the team
