The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH is a German international cooperation organization that provides services worldwide in the field of sustainable development. GIZ operates in more than 120 countries, supporting governments and partners to implement projects that improve economic development, environmental protection, and social progress.
One of the key initiatives supported by GIZ is the Africa–EU Energy Partnership (AEEP), a strategic platform for dialogue and cooperation between Africa and the European Union. The partnership focuses on improving access to secure, affordable, and sustainable energy across both continents, with a special emphasis on increasing investment in energy infrastructure in Africa.
The AEEP Secretariat, hosted by GIZ, is part of the broader Global Energy Transformation Programme (GET.pro), which works to support sustainable energy development and climate-related initiatives. GIZ is currently inviting fresh graduates and motivated young professionals to apply for an internship opportunity to support this initiative.
Position: Internship
Educational Qualification
Applicants must have a Bachelor of Science (BSc.) Degree in one of the following or related fields:
- Environmental Studies
- Climate Change Studies
- Migration Studies
- Development Studies
- Communications
- Social Sciences
- Political Sciences
- Economics
- Law
- Public Policy
- Engineering
- Environmental Science
- Any related discipline with a focus on sustainable energy or power systems
Professional Experience
- This internship opportunity is specifically intended for fresh graduates.
- Prior professional experience is not required.
- However, applicants should demonstrate strong theoretical knowledge related to areas such as:
- Climate change
- Migration
- Disaster risk reduction
- Sustainable energy systems
Required Skills and Competencies
Applicants should have the following competencies:
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal in English
- Strong analytical, organizational, and research skills
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Familiarity with digital tools and communication platforms
- Strong interest in climate change, human mobility, and African integration processes
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Strong time management and task prioritization skills
