The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH is a German international cooperation agency operating in over 120 countries. Through our Ethiopian Higher Tier Cooking Component (HTCC), co-implemented with SNV and funded by the Netherlands Development Agency (RVO), we support sustainable clean cooking and environmental restoration efforts.
Position 1: Internship – Knowledge Management & Documentation
Are you a creative and organized fresh graduate passionate about visual communication and storytelling? Join GIZ’s HTCC program to support documentation and knowledge-sharing initiatives across Ethiopia’s clean cooking ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in documenting project milestones through visuals, photography, and storytelling
- Design reports, infographics, and communication materials
- Support the field team in collecting and organizing multimedia data
- Contribute to the digital archiving and knowledge management system
- Travel to field sites to capture field-level progress and community engagement
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Visual Arts, Graphic Design, or related fields
- Proficient in visual editing software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, etc.)
- Skills in photography, videography, and digital media content creation
- Familiarity with environmental or restoration projects is a plus
- Strong time management, independence, and field-readiness
- Graduated within the last 6 months or in final year of university
Duty Station: Arba Minch
Position 2: Internship – Forestry & Natural Resource Management
Support GIZ’s forestry and landscape restoration efforts while gaining hands-on experience in field operations, data management, and stakeholder engagement. This is a great opportunity for environmentally conscious graduates looking to work on real-world impact initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide technical assistance in forest development and restoration fieldwork
- Support in project data collection and analysis
- Assist in organizing training sessions and local stakeholder workshops
- Work closely with the field team to align project activities with local needs
- Contribute to socio-economic interventions aligned with the project’s objectives
Qualifications:
- Background in Forestry, Environmental Science, or Natural Resource Management
- Strong interest in sustainable land use and forest conservation
- Ability to travel to field locations and work in a cross-cultural team
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Stress tolerance, self-motivation, and collaboration mindset
- Final-year student or recent graduate (within 6 months)
