The Friedrich Ebert Foundation (FES) is now accepting applications for the 2025 fully funded scholarships in Germany. This opportunity is open to international and overseas students pursuing Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD degrees at state-recognized German universities.

Each year, up to 40 scholarships are awarded to outstanding students. Alongside financial support, recipients benefit from a comprehensive seminar program to strengthen academic skills and social competencies.

Financial Benefits

The Friedrich Ebert Foundation Scholarship provides full financial support, including:

• EUR 750/month for Bachelor’s, Diploma, or State Examination programs
• EUR 850/month for Master’s programs
• Health insurance costs fully covered
• Family allowance of EUR 276 for scholars with children
• No repayment required

Eligible Fields of Study

• Open to all academic disciplines offered at recognized German universities.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

For Bachelor’s & Master’s

• Proof of admission or enrollment at a recognized German university or technical college
• Outstanding academic merit
• Commitment to social and political engagement, aligned with social democratic values
• Demonstrated German language skills (even if courses are in English)
• First-year students must apply before or during their first semester

For PhD

• Unconditional admission to a doctoral program in Germany
• Sufficient knowledge of German

Selection Criteria

• Excellent academic performance
• Motivation, responsibility, and reliability
• Active involvement in social or political initiatives
• Alignment with the values of social democracy
