The Ethiopian Capital Market Authority (ECMA) was established under Capital Market Proclamation No. 1248/2021 as an autonomous federal regulatory body. ECMA’s primary mission is to promote a transparent, fair, and efficient capital market where securities can be issued and traded with integrity.
As Ethiopia’s key market regulator, ECMA licenses and supervises market participants, including securities exchanges, depositories, brokers, and capital market service providers, ensuring the stability and integrity of the emerging Ethiopian capital market ecosystem.
Position 1: Senior Market Supervision Officer II
Qualification Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Law, Economics, Management, Accounting and Finance, Banking & Finance, Business Administration, or a related field from an accredited institution.
- Minimum of 6 years of relevant professional experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor and survey trading activities, market behavior, and transactions to uphold market integrity.
- Conduct daily trade analysis, identify suspicious trading patterns, and report irregularities.
- Perform financial market analysis and offsite inspections of trading members and infrastructures.
- Prepare reports on market surveillance findings and regulatory compliance.
- Contribute to developing market surveillance policies, procedures, and technology tools.
- Collaborate with the Investigation and Enforcement Department on market irregularities.
Work Location: Addis Ababa (Online application required)
Position 2: Head, Market Supervision
Qualification Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Information Technology combined with Economics, Management, Accounting and Finance, Banking & Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience, with at least 2 years in a managerial or supervisory position.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and oversee the Market Supervision Department and surveillance team.
- Develop and implement market monitoring strategies, policies, and compliance tools.
- Supervise trade surveillance activities to detect and prevent market manipulation or insider trading.
- Ensure regulatory compliance through offsite examinations and operational monitoring.
- Evaluate market risks and propose strategies to safeguard market integrity.
- Prepare comprehensive reports on market activity, compliance issues, and policy recommendations.
- Collaborate with legal experts, market participants, and enforcement teams to maintain fair trading practices.
