About the DAAD Helmut Schmidt Scholarship Program
The DAAD Helmut Schmidt Programme 2025, funded by the German Federal Foreign Office, offers fully funded scholarships to outstanding future leaders from developing countries. If you’re passionate about social justice, governance, public policy, or development, this scholarship is your gateway to studying at top German universities and making a lasting impact in your community.

- Promote the structure of civil society in developing countries
- Equip scholars with academic training, research experience, and cross-cultural competencies
Scholarship Benefits – What’s Covered?
💰 Fully Funded Package Includes:
- €934 monthly stipend
- Health insurance coverage in Germany
- Tuition fee waiver
- Travel allowance (round-trip)
- Study and research subsidies
- Monthly rent subsidy (where applicable)
- Spouse/children allowances (if applicable)
- 6-month compulsory German language course, regardless of course language

Required Documents
- DAAD Application Form (signed, electronically completed)
- One motivation letter (for both universities)
- Updated CV with detailed academic, professional, and civic engagement records
- Degree certificates and transcripts (with translations if applicable)
- Language certificates (German and/or English)
- One recommendation letter (signed and dated)
- Proof of work experience (if applicable)
Eligibility Criteria
- A Bachelor’s degree (completed within the last 6 years)
- Field of study: Social Sciences, Political Science, Law, Public Administration, or Economics
- Citizens of developing/emerging countries
- Proficiency in English and/or German
- Commitment to return to your home country after studies

Step-by-Step Guide
- Complete the DAAD Application Form
- Write one motivation letter (for both university choices)
- Submit the full application to the two selected universities (not to DAAD directly)
- Do not send any documents to DAAD
- Prepare your documents in either English or German
