Position: Fixed Asset – Financial Accountant
The Fixed Asset – Financial Accountant is responsible for maintaining accurate and compliant accounting records of the organization’s fixed assets. This role ensures adherence to accounting standards, asset policies, and internal controls while supporting effective asset management and reporting.
Key Purpose Statement
To ensure accurate accounting, recording, and reporting of the company’s fixed assets in compliance with financial policies, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements. The role supports audits, oversees asset capitalization and depreciation, and provides analytical insights that enhance asset management efficiency.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
1. Fixed Asset Management
- Maintain a complete and up-to-date fixed asset register.
- Record acquisitions, disposals, and transfers accurately.
- Tag and physically verify all company assets.
- Conduct regular fixed asset audits and reconciliations.
2. Compliance & Policy Adherence
- Ensure compliance with accounting policies, internal controls, and financial regulations.
- Support both internal and external audit processes.
3. Financial Reporting & Reconciliation
- Prepare depreciation schedules and reconciliation reports.
- Report asset movements, balances, and variances on time.
- Assist with month-end and year-end financial closing.
4. Asset Planning & Control
- Contribute to budgeting and forecasting of asset-related expenses.
- Monitor capitalization thresholds and asset lifecycle management.
- Coordinate closely with procurement and operations teams.
5. Systems & Records Management
- Maintain accurate and real-time data in accounting systems (e.g., SAP).
- Ensure proper documentation and accessibility of records.
6. Support & Coordination
- Liaise with cross-functional finance teams and auditors.
- Provide guidance to asset clerks or support staff when required.
Skills, Experience & Education
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in Financial Accounting or General Accounts within a manufacturing or FMCG environment.
- Prior ERP system experience (e.g., SAP) is advantageous.
Core Skills:
- Strong knowledge of financial accounting principles and fixed asset management.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and reporting skills.
- Attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Strong interpersonal and communication abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
