Job Description

As a Paramedic Emergency Nurse with the Ethiopian Medical Assistant Team (EMAT), you will be responsible for delivering high-quality emergency and primary care to WFP staff and eligible dependents. You will work within WFP’s clinic network in field and remote locations, contributing to health promotion and emergency preparedness initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide basic and advanced life support services
  • Assist physicians with examinations and medical procedures
  • Administer medications and manage wound care and patient stabilization
  • Monitor vital signs and maintain accurate medical records
  • Coordinate medical evacuations and emergency responses
  • Ensure readiness of first-aid and emergency equipment
  • Support health education and infection prevention campaigns
  • Participate in vaccination programs and public health surveillance
  • Respond to emergencies during missions or in field operations

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Secondary school certificate
  • Diploma or Bachelor’s in Nursing, Paramedical Sciences, or equivalent
  • Certification as a Paramedic or EMT (preferred)
  • Valid license to practice in the home country
  • Minimum of 4 years clinical experience, preferably in emergency or pre-hospital care
  • Strong communication, decision-making, and teamwork skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and electronic health records systems
  • Fluency in English and local language (written and oral)
