As part of its humanitarian engagement in Ethiopia, the Embassy is seeking an experienced and analytical professional to join its human resources and policy team as a Humanitarian Policy and Reporting Officer. This is a high-impact role contributing directly to the UK’s humanitarian response and policy work in the Horn of Africa.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver timely and accurate humanitarian reporting and situational analysis for Ethiopia
• Prepare regular situation reports, thematic briefs, and lead scenario planning
• Track planned and actual outcomes of humanitarian and resilience programming
• Lead data and evidence-based investments, ensuring products meet FCDO and sector standards
• Act as a primary point of contact for HQ (London) on parliamentary questions and briefings
• Build and maintain strategic relationships with humanitarian actors, data analysts, and Ethiopian NGOs
• Engage in humanitarian policy dialogue with Ethiopian government and development partners
• Coordinate and participate in annual field visits (approx. 10 days/year) to monitor humanitarian programs
• Potentially lead on cross-cutting thematic areas based on experience and interest

What We’re Looking For

Required Qualifications & Experience:

• Minimum 3+ years’ experience in humanitarian or development organizations (e.g., UN, NGOs, donor agencies, government)
• Strong analytical skills with experience in data visualization and reporting tools
• Clear and confident communicator in both verbal and written English
• In-depth understanding of Ethiopia’s humanitarian architecture and policy environment
• Proven teamwork and flexibility under changing priorities and time-sensitive projects
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and relevant IT tools for data tracking and reporting
