The British Council Scotland EARTH Scholarships 2025, managed by the Scottish Graduate School for Arts & Humanities (SGSAH), aim to foster international research collaboration by connecting PhD candidates and early career researchers from around the globe with top Scottish universities and academic mentors.

This prestigious initiative promotes the role of environmental arts, humanities, and interdisciplinary STEAM fields (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts & Mathematics) in addressing the global climate crisis.

  • Updated CV (max 4 pages)
  • Letter of support from PhD supervisor (max 2 pages)

Eligibility Criteria

To apply for the EARTH Scholarships 2025, you must:

  • Be a PhD candidate or an Early Career Researcher (ECR)
  • Be registered at or graduated from a non-UK university in 2025
  • Have a project primarily rooted in the Arts & Humanities
  • Be able to engage in interdisciplinary (STEAM) approaches
  • Complete the program within 12 months post-PhD award (or 24 months in exceptional cases)
  • Ensure at least 50% of your PhD project aligns with Arts/Humanities disciplines
