About the ARES Scholarship
The Belgium Government ARES Scholarship provides an excellent opportunity for international students from developing countries to pursue higher education in Belgium. Each year, the program awards around 220 fully funded scholarships for one-year specialized Master’s programs and 2–6 month advanced training courses at institutions of the Wallonia-Brussels Federation.
The scholarship covers all major expenses, including travel, tuition, accommodation, and living allowances—making it one of the most generous opportunities in Europe.
Financial Benefits
The ARES Scholarship 2025–26 is fully funded and provides the following:
For Bachelor’s or Master’s Programs:
- Round-trip international airfare
- Living allowance for 12 months (+13th month reduced)
- €200 indirect mission fees (one-time on arrival)
- €700 arrival allowance, tuition, and return fees (one-time on arrival)
- Full registration fees
- Insurance coverage
- Travel costs linked to inter-university training
For Training Courses:
- Round-trip international airfare
- Living allowance:
- €93/day (8–17 days)
- €1,500/month (18 days to 1 month)
- €1,500/month (1–6 months, prorated)
- €200 indirect mission fees (one-time on arrival)
- Insurance fees
- Travel costs related to the training program

Documents Required
- Two recommendation letters (academic/professional)
- Certified copies of diplomas and transcripts
- Proof of occupation (last 5 years)

Eligible Countries
Applicants must be citizens of one of the following countries:
Africa & Caribbean: Benin, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cameroon, Cuba, DR Congo, Haiti, Madagascar, Morocco, Mozambique, Niger, Republic of Guinea (Conakry), Rwanda, Senegal, South Africa, Tanzania, Tunisia, Uganda, Zimbabwe.
Asia & Latin America: Bolivia, Cambodia, Ecuador, Ethiopia, Indonesia, Kenya, Nepal, Peru, Philippines, Vietnam.
Eligibility Criteria
To qualify, applicants must:
- Be under 40 years old for Master’s programs and under 45 years old for Training Courses.
- Be a citizen of one of the eligible countries.
- Have relevant academic qualifications in the chosen field.
- Demonstrate passive knowledge of English (reading ability required).
