Founded in 1970, AHRI is Ethiopia’s premier biomedical research institute specializing in clinical trials, research capacity building, and public health studies. Named after Norwegian physician Gerhard Henrik Armauer Hansen, the institute has contributed over 50 years to research impacting Ethiopia and beyond. AHRI is recognized for skill and technology transfer, partnerships, and research programs in public health and clinical sciences.

Position 1: Junior Researcher – Public Health / Medical Laboratory / Health Informatics

Qualifications:

• BSc degree in Public Health, Medical Laboratory, Health Informatics, or related fields
• Minimum CGPA: 3.00 for males, 2.75 for females
• Zero years of work experience required

Skills & Competencies:

• Excellent oral and written communication in English and local languages at the duty station:
  • Abobo/Gambela – Agnuak
  • Mizan – Benchigna
  • Maksegnit – Amharic
• Ability to work full-time under 4–6 month contract (extendable based on performance and budget)
• Applicants may apply for only one duty station
• Residents of the respective duty stations are strongly encouraged to apply

Duty Station Options: Mizan, Abobo/Gambela, Maksegnit

Position 2: Assistant Researcher / Study Nurse

Qualifications & Experience:

• BSc/MSc in Nursing or related health field
• Minimum GPA: 2.75 for females, 3.00 for males
• Minimum 2 years of clinical experience
• Training in TB clinical management, phlebotomy, cord blood collection preferred
• Experience in clinical research, maternal health, or TB-related studies is an asset
• Knowledge of research ethics, GCP, and biological sample handling desirable

Skills & Competencies:

• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Attention to detail and ability to maintain study confidentiality
• Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Internet)
• Willingness to work flexible hours including weekends if required
• Ability to take on additional responsibilities and continuous learning

Terms of Employment: 1-year full-time contract (extendable based on performance and budget)

Duty Station: Addis Ababa
