Internship Overview
The AU Internship Program 2025 offers recent graduates and students a unique opportunity to gain real-world experience in multilateral diplomacy, continental development, and African policy formulation. Interns will support the daily operations of AU Directorates, work alongside experts, and contribute to impactful initiatives across Africa.
Internship Responsibilities
Interns will assist with:

Technical and administrative support to AU programs and projects
-
Data entry, research, documentation, and reporting tasks
-
Supporting events, workshops, and conferences
-
Coordination with various stakeholders and directorates
-
Assisting in daily office activities under direct supervision
Available Departments Include:

Political Affairs, Peace & Security (PAPS)

Economic Development, Trade, Industry & Mining (ETIM)
-
Infrastructure & Energy (IE)
-
Health, Humanitarian Affairs & Social Development (HHS)
-
Education, Science, Technology & Innovation (ESTI)
-
Women, Gender & Youth (WGY)
-
Legal Counsel, Communications, Protocol, and more!
Eligibility Criteria
To qualify, applicants must:
-
Be nationals of an AU Member State
-
Be enrolled in the final year of a Bachelor’s degree OR hold a Bachelor’s or postgraduate degree
-
Be 32 years old or younger at time of application
-
Be fluent in at least one AU working language: English, French, Arabic, Portuguese
-
Demonstrate high integrity and good conduct
-
Have no criminal record (excluding minor traffic offences)
Note: No prior work experience required!

Computer proficiency (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, email, internet)

Excellent communication (oral & written)

Ability to work in a multicultural team
