ABOUT THE EMBASSY
The Embassy of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg in Addis Ababa represents Luxembourg’s diplomatic interests in Ethiopia and the African Union. POSITION SUMMARY
The Embassy is recruiting a highly skilled and reliable Accounting & Administrative Assistant to support daily operations. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in finance management, secretarial duties, and coordinating diplomatic engagements. This role demands integrity, accuracy, and strong organizational skills.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage day-to-day accounting tasks using Microsoft Excel
- Handle Embassy correspondence, communication, and calendar management
- Oversee archiving of official Embassy documents
- Liaise with embassies, UN agencies, and the African Union for coordination of meetings and events
- Support financial operations: track payments, manage liquidities, and oversee Embassy expenditures
- Ensure proper execution of maintenance contracts and transactions for expatriate staff residences
- Assist in organizing official visits and events both within and outside Embassy premises
- Support staff with administrative formalities (diplomatic ID, driver’s license, etc.)
- Perform other duties assigned by the Head of Mission and Deputy Head of Mission
QUALIFICATIONS & COMPETENCIES
- Completed secondary education or equivalent (higher education is a plus)
- Fluent in English and Amharic (both written and spoken)
- Intermediate knowledge of French (fluency is an advantage)
- Proven experience in budgets, accounting, and financial management
- Excellent command of Microsoft Office tools (Outlook, Word, Excel)
- Strong time management, organization, and multitasking skills
- High levels of discretion, integrity, and responsibility
- Flexible, resilient, and calm under pressure
- Team player, eager to work in a small and dynamic diplomatic environment
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
- The employment contract and salary will comply with Ethiopian labor laws.
- This is a locally recruited position, with no diplomatic privileges.
