WFP Ethiopia is now inviting fresh graduates and current students to apply for the Logistics Intern position.
Position: Logistics Intern
The Logistics Intern (Customs) will assist WFP’s supply chain operations, with a primary focus on customs documentation, shipment tracking, and coordination with government authorities and clearing agents. This is an excellent opportunity for graduates looking to build a career in supply chain, logistics, or humanitarian operations.
Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must meet one of the following criteria:
- Currently enrolled in a recognised undergraduate programme and have completed at least two years of study (priority fields: Supply Chain, Logistics, Business Management, or related).
- Currently enrolled in a graduate programme within the past 12 months.
- A recent graduate (within six months of applying) from an accredited undergraduate or graduate programme and must have attended classes in the last 12 months.
Additional criteria:
- Fluency in spoken and written English and Amharic
- Physically fit to travel to and work at the assigned duty station
- Must not be the son/daughter or sibling of a WFP employee
- All qualifications must come from recognised institutions verified by competent national or international authorities (e.g., UNESCO, Ministry of Education)
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, review, and organize shipping documents, import permits, and Ethiopian Customs Declarations (ECDs).
- Coordinate with Clearing and Forwarding (C&F) agents to ensure timely submission of documents to customs and other authorities.
- Track incoming shipments and follow up regularly with C&F agents.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date filing systems for customs documentation, including final declarations.
- Monitor and follow up on the closure of customs declarations and container guarantees.
- Update shipment tracking sheets and assist in preparing periodic logistics reports.
- Reconcile received commodities against customs declaration balances.
- Support verification of service invoices submitted by C&F agents and superintendent companies.
- Perform additional administrative duties as assigned.
