Position 1: Environmental Engineer
Educational Qualification
- Master’s or PhD degree in Civil, Environmental, Chemical, or Sanitary Engineering
- Strong technical background in:
- Occupational Health & Safety (OHS)
- Pollution prevention and control
- Solid waste management
- Large-scale infrastructure projects
Experience
- Minimum 5 years of relevant professional experience in:
- Environmental, social, health, and safety (ESHS) risk management
- Large infrastructure, extractive, or industrial projects
- Application of World Bank Group ESF or similar sustainability frameworks
- Experience in roads, dams, power systems, irrigation, or water projects is highly desirable
- Experience in FCV (Fragile, Conflict, and Violence) settings is an advantage
Key Skills & Competencies
- Strong project management and contractor coordination skills
- Capacity building in EHS risk management
- Excellent analytical, communication, and reporting skills
- Ability to work under pressure and travel to remote areas
- Fluency in English and Amharic (required)

Position 2: Social Development Specialist
Educational Qualification
- Master’s degree in:
- Development Studies
- Social Anthropology
- Sociology
- International Development
- Environmental Sciences
- Business Sustainability or related fields
Experience
- Minimum 5 years of professional experience managing social and environmental risks in:
- Energy, water, transport, agriculture, or urban development projects
- Strong experience with:
- Social Impact Assessment
- Land acquisition & resettlement
- Stakeholder engagement & grievance mechanisms
- Experience in Eastern & Southern Africa or Sub-Saharan Africa preferred
- FCV country experience is an advantage
Key Skills & Competencies
- Strong policy analysis and advisory skills
- Ability to operationalize global safeguard frameworks (WB ESF, IFC PS, AfDB)
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Fluency in English and Amharic
- Willingness to travel within Ethiopia, South Sudan, and Sudan
