Position Summary: Agricultural Specialist
The U.S. Mission in Ethiopia is seeking qualified and experienced candidates for the position of Agricultural Specialist. The successful candidate will support agricultural economics, policy analysis, trade, and market research activities relevant to U.S.–Ethiopia agricultural engagement.
Qualifications and Requirements
General Requirements
- All selected candidates will be subject to a background investigation
- A pre-employment medical examination may be required
- The selected candidate must be able to begin work within four (4) weeks of receiving final authorization and/or clearance
Education Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in one of the following fields is required:
- Agricultural Economics
- Food and Agricultural Marketing
- Agriculture
- Agribusiness
- International Trade
- Public Policy
Applicants must clearly address this requirement in the Education section of their ERA application.
Experience Requirements
- Minimum of five (5) years of professional work experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Agricultural economics
- Agricultural policy
- Commodity trade
- Marketing analysis or research
- Experience must include extensive analytical work and report writing on complex subjects
Applicants must address this requirement in the Major Duties and Responsibilities section of the ERA application.
Language Requirements
- Fluency in Speaking, Reading, and Writing English is required
- Fluency in Speaking, Reading, and Writing Amharic is required
Language proficiency may be tested. Applicants must clearly address language skills in the ERA application.
Evaluation and Selection Process
- Applicants will be evaluated based on qualifications and requirements stated in the vacancy announcement
- Candidates may be required to complete pre-employment language or skills tests
- Incomplete applications or missing documentation may result in disqualification
