About UNECA
The United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) is dedicated to promoting inclusive and sustainable development across the African continent. This internship is based within the Technology, Innovation, Connectivity, and Infrastructure Development Division (TICID), which supports member states in achieving economic growth by improving business environments, promoting private sector investment, and advancing innovation in key sectors.

Qualifications and Requirements
To qualify for this internship, applicants must meet one of the following criteria:
- (a) Be enrolled in, or have completed, high school with a diploma.
- (b) Be enrolled in, or in the final academic year of a first university degree (Bachelor’s or equivalent), Master’s, or Ph.D. program.
- (c) Have completed a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. program.
Applicants must indicate which category applies to them and attach proof of enrollment or completion.
Official certificates will be required upon selection.
Experience
- No prior work experience is required.
- Training, education, or coursework should be relevant to the UN’s work and benefit the ECA’s mission.
Skills and Competencies
- Strong analytical, research, and communication skills.
- Interest in international development, economics, or public policy.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multicultural environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with digital collaboration tools.
Duty Station: Addis Ababa, Ethiopia

- Costs related to travel, visa, accommodation, and living expenses are the responsibility of the intern or their sponsoring institution.
- Interns who are not citizens or permanent residents of Ethiopia may need to obtain appropriate visa and work authorization before starting.
