Position: Intern – Macroeconomics, Finance and Governance Division (MAS)

This internship provides a valuable opportunity to support ECA’s work in macroeconomics, finance, governance, and inclusive development. Interns will contribute to research, analysis, and outreach activities aligned with the UN’s diversity, equity, and inclusion agenda.

Eligibility Criteria and Requirements

Academic Requirements

Applicants must meet one of the following at the time of application:

  • Be enrolled in a Master’s or PhD programme (or equivalent)
  • Have completed a Master’s or PhD programme within the last one (1) year
  • Field of study must be closely related to macroeconomics, finance, governance, public policy, or a related discipline

Professional Experience

  • No prior professional work experience is required
  • Academic training, coursework, or skills must be relevant to the internship role and beneficial to the United Nations

Technical Skills

Applicants must demonstrate good computer literacy, including:

  • MS Word
  • MS PowerPoint
  • MS Excel
  • MS Teams

Competencies and Personal Attributes

  • Strong interest in the work and values of the United Nations
  • Commitment to the principles of the UN Charter
  • Ability to work effectively with people from diverse cultural backgrounds
  • Respect, tolerance, and cultural sensitivity
  • Openness to understanding different perspectives and viewpoints

Internship Conditions

  • Interns are not financially remunerated by the United Nations
  • All travel, visa, accommodation, and living expenses are the responsibility of the intern or a sponsoring institution
  • Interns who are not citizens or permanent residents of Ethiopia may need to obtain the appropriate visa and work authorization
  • Selected candidates should confirm visa requirements before accepting the offer
