The Ohio State Global One Health Initiative (GOHI) connects The Ohio State University to Ethiopia, Kenya, Tanzania, Brazil, Thailand, China, India, and beyond through a coordinated, multidisciplinary approach to improve health, build capacity, and provide global learning opportunities.

In Ethiopia, Ohio State Global One Health, LLC implements a range of Global Health Security projects focused on strengthening laboratory, surveillance, and workforce capacity to enhance rapid response to public health emergencies.

The organization works closely with the Federal Ministry of Health (FMoH), Ethiopian Public Health Institute (EPHI), Regional Health Bureaus, universities, and other research institutions to advance health outcomes through applied education, training, and research.

Open Positions

1. AEFI Surveillance Officer

Qualifications and Experience:

• Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Master’s degree in Public Health or Pharmacy.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in vaccine safety surveillance in a reputable health institution.
• Training or CPD certification in Adverse Events Following Immunization (AEFI) or Pharmacovigilance is an advantage.
• Prior exposure to the Ethiopian health or regulatory system is desirable.
• Experience in AEFI detection, reporting, and investigation.
• Proven experience in training, supervision, and mentorship.

2. AEFI Surveillance Data Officer

Qualifications and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Epidemiology, Public Health, Pharmacy, Data Science, or related field (Master’s preferred).
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in data management or analysis in public health programs.
• Proficiency in at least one data analysis tool: R, Stata, SPSS, or Python.
• Experience with health surveillance data, preferably AEFI or immunization data.
• Strong analytical skills and ability to meet tight deadlines.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
• Familiarity with national or international immunization data systems is an asset.

3. Vaccine Safety Social Listening Expert

Qualifications and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Social Sciences, Communication, or related fields.
• 1–3 years of experience using social media monitoring and analytics tools for data collection, analysis, and reporting.
• Certification or short courses in digital analytics, media monitoring, or data visualization are an advantage.
• Ability to analyze large datasets and generate strategic communication insights.
• Excellent English writing and communication skills; proficiency in local languages is required.
• Strong understanding of data ethics, privacy, and responsible digital monitoring practices.
