POSITION SUMMARY
Zemen Bank is seeking a highly experienced and dynamic Manager – Legal Advisor Division to lead and oversee the Bank’s legal services. The role requires strategic legal guidance, risk mitigation, litigation oversight, and contract review to protect the Bank’s interests and ensure compliance with national laws and internal policies.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and implement legal service strategies, policies, and procedures
- Lead, coordinate, and control the operations of the Legal Advisor Division
- Revise and update legal manuals and ensure compliance with banking laws
- Offer legal advice and opinion across departments on complex legal matters
- Manage the Bank’s legal representation in courts, tribunals, and litigation
- Maintain proper records and schedules for all court cases
- Review and prepare credit and non-credit contracts to safeguard Bank interests
- Ensure timely legal support and interpretation of financial laws and regulations
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree (LL.B) in Law from a recognized institution
- Experience:
- Minimum of 11 years of relevant legal experience, including at least 2 years in a managerial or section head role within a bank, financial institution, or legal advisory setting
- Competencies:
- Deep understanding of Ethiopian financial laws and regulations
- Demonstrated leadership in legal services and policy implementation
- Excellent legal writing, litigation strategy, and contract negotiation skills
- Ability to handle complex legal issues with discretion and professionalism
