In Ethiopia, GIZ implements multiple programs including the Better Migration Management (BMM) Program, coordinating with national and international stakeholders to promote good governance, economic development, and sustainable livelihoods.
Available Positions
1. Junior Advisor – Private Sector
Education:
- BA Degree in Economics, Development Economics, Business Administration, Management, Entrepreneurship, Public Policy, or related fields.
- Additional project management or development courses are advantageous.
Experience:
- 0 to 2 years of relevant work experience.
- Understanding of Ethiopia’s private sector is an asset.
Skills & Competencies:
- Excellent verbal and written communication.
- Strong drafting and document-editing ability.
- Fluency in English and Amharic.
- Ability to synthesize information, work independently, and meet deadlines.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Culturally adaptable and motivated to work in a multicultural setting.
Duty Station: Addis Ababa
2. Communication and Knowledge Management Advisor
Qualifications:
- MA in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Media Studies, or related field.
- Fluency in English and Amharic (German is an asset).
Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years in communications or PR, preferably within development cooperation.
- Proven experience developing communication strategies and visibility campaigns.
- Ability to produce engaging content and impact stories.
- Experience managing external service providers and organizing professional events.
- Proficiency in digital and design tools (Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, Power BI, MS Office).
- Experience in land governance, NRM, or rural development is an advantage.
Duty Station: Addis Ababa
3. Data Policy Advisor
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s in Political Science, Economics, Law, Development Studies, or related fields, preferably with focus on digital transformation or governance.
Experience:
- At least 6 years of professional experience, including one year in policy development in Africa.
- Background in international cooperation and development.
- Expertise in data governance frameworks, digital transformation policies, and related regulatory issues.
Competencies:
- Partner-oriented and respectful of African ownership and sovereignty.
- Strong intercultural communication and analytical skills.
- Fluent in English; French language skills are an advantage.
- Willingness to work under pressure in complex environments.
