Position: Project Officer – Agriculture

Location: Addis Ababa, Ethiopia
Working Hours: 37.5 hours/week
Salary: Group I – starting basic salary of €2,748/month (payable equivalent in Ethiopian Birr)

About the European Union

The European Union (EU) is a political and economic partnership of 27 European countries, playing a leading role in diplomacy, trade, development aid, and international affairs. The EU is represented worldwide through over 140 diplomatic delegations, functioning similarly to embassies. The Delegation to Ethiopia works closely with local partners and stakeholders to support sustainable development initiatives in key sectors such as agriculture and rural development.

Position: Project Officer – Agriculture

Minimum Requirements

• Medically fit to perform duties
• Enjoys civil rights and employment permit under local law
• Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Rural Development, Food Security, Veterinary, Livestock, Agribusiness, or related sectors
• Experience:
  • Minimum 5 years in a similar position for Bachelor’s degree holders
  • Minimum 3 years in a similar position for Master’s degree holders
• Language:
  • English competency: C2 in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding
• Technical Skills:
  • High level of computer literacy
  • Experience with public organizations, international/diplomatic missions, or NGOs in agriculture-related programs

Assets / Advantages

• Master’s degree in relevant fields
• Experience in multicultural environments
• Previous involvement in EU-funded programs
• Knowledge of Amharic and/or French
