This internship offers Danish university students the opportunity to gain first-hand experience in humanitarian programme management while working alongside experienced professionals in Ethiopia or Malawi.
Position: Programme Management Intern
Purpose of the Internship
The internship is designed to provide hands-on learning about humanitarian programme management, donor engagement, and partnership coordination. Interns will shadow the DRC Country Manager and teams, assist in project implementation, and gain insights into the humanitarian ecosystem.
Key Learning Objectives
- Programme Management Exposure: Support proposal/report writing, infographics, data collection, and field visit arrangements.
- Humanitarian Coordination: Attend meetings, prepare minutes, and support follow-ups with internal and external partners.
- Impact Measurement: Assist in data processing, storytelling, and capturing lessons from affected communities.
- Brand Awareness: Contribute to social media posts, communications, and practical arrangements for delegations.
- Donor Relations: Support reporting, budget management, and interaction with donors such as ECHO and DANIDA.
Qualifications & Experience
Required
- Enrolled in a relevant Danish University program with internship as part of credited ECTS.
- Background in social sciences, political science, African studies, disaster management, development studies, or related fields.
- Fluent in written and spoken English.
- Proficiency in MS Office and ability to adapt to digital platforms.
- Strong report writing and communication skills.
- Cultural sensitivity and ability to work in multicultural settings.
- Commitment to the Red Cross Red Crescent fundamental principles.
Preferred
- Danish language skills.
- Previous experience (volunteering or professional) with the Red Cross/Crescent movement or humanitarian organizations.
- Valid international driver’s license.
