Position: Medical Laboratory Technician/Technologist
Education and Certification Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Technology from an accredited institution
- Licensed by FMHACA to practice as a Medical Laboratory Technologist (MLT) in Ethiopia
- Current and active FMHACA certification
- Ability to perform Basic Life Support (BLS) / CPR
- Must meet physical requirements of the role
- Additional clinical requirements may apply (competency assessment, background check, health clearance)
Key Responsibilities
- Perform technical laboratory procedures according to hospital and national standards
- Ensure quality and appropriateness of patient specimens for diagnostic tests
- Adhere strictly to quality assurance and control protocols
- Conduct chemical analyses of body fluids to detect normal and abnormal components
- Cross-check clinical information and previous lab results, reporting discrepancies promptly
- Manage specimen collection with strict patient identification and safety protocols
- Maintain laboratory equipment and troubleshoot malfunctions with support
- Report critical test results immediately to physicians and nursing staff
- Complete and deliver morning test results to wards by 11:00 AM
