JOB POSITION & REQUIREMENTS
UNDP works in about 170 countries and territories supporting partner countries to achieve the eradication of poverty, the reduction of inequalities and the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). More specifically, UNDP supports partner countries in developing policies, leadership skills, partnering abilities, institutional capabilities and building resilience to sustain development results.
Position 1: Intern – Regional Trade Associate
Education:
- Applicants must be enrolled (or have recently graduated from) in a postgraduate degree programme (such as a master’s programme, or higher) Or have recently graduated with a first-level university degree related to Economics, Management, Business Administration, International Relations/Development, or other relevant fields and must start the internship within one-year of graduation.
Experience:
- Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience. However, a field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is required.
Languages
- Fluency in oral and written English is required. Knowledge of French is an asset.

Position 2: Internship – Project Support (AFSIT)
Education:
- Be enrolled in a postgraduate degree programme (such as a master’s programme, or higher) in Political Science, International Relations, Development or related field;
- Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (such as bachelor’s degree or equivalent) in Political Science, International Relations, Development or related field;
- Have recently graduated with a university degree (as defined in (1) and (2) above) and, if selected, must start the internship within one-year of graduation;
- Be enrolled in a postgraduate professional traineeship program and undertake the internship as part of this program.
Experience:
- Experience in project and event management desirable
- Familiarity with the UN system in general
- Familiarity with SDGs and Agenda 2030 is desirable.
Language:
- Proficiency in English;
- Knowledge of French would be an asset.
Position 3: Regional Trade Analyst
Education:
- Advanced university degree (master’s degree or equivalent) in Trade, Economics, Finance or related fields is required. OR
- A first-level university degree (bachelor’s degree) in the areas mentioned above, in combination with an additional two years of qualifying experience will be given due consideration in lieu of the advanced university degree.
Experience:
- Applicants with Master’s degree (or equivalent) in a relevant field of study are not required to have professional work experience.
- Applicants with a Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) are required to have a minimum of two (2) years of relevant professional experience at the national and/or international level in the areas of economic, trade or finance.
Required Language(s)
- Fluent in English is required.
